Southern Illawarra Church of Christ, NSW, is seeking to appoint a part-time Assistant Minister. The primary roles of the successful candidate will be to focus on Evangelism and the Activation of ministry.
Southern Illawarra Church is situated at Calderwood, near Albion Park, 25 kilometres south of Wollongong and we are privileged, challenged, and blessed to be surrounded by the biggest housing growth area in the Illawarra, with over 4,000 new home sites being released within 2 kilometres of where the church gathers.
We are seeking an evangelist to further identify and develop a team from within the church to pray, discuss and decide on strategies to implement an ongoing pioneering mission into this new housing estate. This would include identifying ways to plant a church community that reaches people moving into the local area.
We need an Activator that can stir into life new initiatives and ministries that enable the gospel to be proclaimed in word and deeds. This would focus on children, teens, and parent groups by creating belonging for new families moving in; and by building new expressions of communities of faith.
Key competencies are adaptability, being able to build trust, strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to initiate action, managing workflows, planning, and organising skills and maintaining a high standard of performance for self and others, assuming responsibility, accountability and integrity.
The person has to be a committed Christian with strong Bible knowledge. He or she must either comply with the churches of Christ in NSW ministry endorsement or be willing (and eligible) to gain endorsement. The position also requires Working with Children clearance. The position reports to the Senior Minister. The successful applicant will be required to become an active part of our church community.
