Position: Kids’ Minister

We are currently going through an exciting phase of refreshment and renewal and are looking for a part-time Kids’ Minister to join our passionate team to cater for our growing number of families.
About the Position
Our Kids’ Minister is a mature and devoted follower of Jesus who is passionate about integrating and discipling children and families into our Church Community. Ideally you will have teaching and/or ministry qualifications and experience, and be able to inspire and build a team of volunteers to deliver age-specific ministries in positive and grace-filled environments. You will have proven relational and organisational capability and be a team player as a strategic partner in the overall mission of the church. The role is for 2 days a week, including 0.5 day/week on a Sunday morning (Kids’ Church). It also includes a mid-week mums group.
Responsibilities
– Kids Church
- Lead an amazing, fun, faith filled kids church that operates parallel to the morning service for Primary aged children and help oversee preschool program and leaders.
- Curriculum preparation of all the lessons and leading on Sundays.
- Building and equipping a team of volunteers to serve with you on Sunday mornings. A part-time staff member will assist in leading a segment of primary aged kids each week.
- Be present every Sunday from 9:00am to oversee the set up the Kids Ministry spaces.
- Be ready at 9:30am to pray and then prep volunteers for the week’s curriculum and activities.
- At 9:50am be present in the foyer welcoming new families, and helping new parents fill out registrations. Collect and manage the registrations of new families, and welcome and communicate with them to ensure integration into the Kids Ministry program.
- Primary Children stay in for part of worship (parent’s responsibility) and then exit with the Children’s Leaders to Kids Church!
- Parents/guardians will collect kids from their rooms at the end of the service. No children are to leave the rooms unaccompanied or without a parent/guardian.
- Monitor that your team members are arriving on time and are fulfilling their responsibilities, including any pack down responsibilities they have for the Life Kids spaces. Follow up with volunteers who are not fulfilling their commitments.
- Make sure new volunteers to the Kids Ministry Team receive a welcome email with access to the relevant information so that they complete their training.
- Add contact details of new parents/families to the shared drive
- Creation and implementation of special performances and events for the kids.
- Build a community and have fun!
- Maintain appropriate documentation for WWCC and creating safe spaces to cultivate a best practice for our team of willing volunteers.
– Wednesday Playtime
- Lead a Wednesday morning Playtime group as an activity for church carers (mainly young mums) and their pre-schoolers and the same group from the local community.
- Build and lead a Playtime leadership team of volunteers from within the church who will help reach the local carers and kids.
- Develop an engaging, fun and faith filled program for those who attend.
Remuneration
- Remuneration to possible applicant based on qualification and training.
- Potential for Income split between PAYG and tax free ministry expense account as role moves from interim to permanent.
- Two weeks paid leave of absence (over a year) allowed for holidays.
Qualifications and Experience
- Partial completion or completion of a relevant theological degree.
- A proven track record in children’s and youth ministry either as a volunteer or in a paid role.
- Experience in an evangelical, charismatic approach to faith and kingdom theology.
