What is TeamFest?
Every two years, ministry teams from multi-staff churches are invited to come together for a unique experience on the Gold Coast. At the conference, teams hear world-class input on leadership and team dynamics, and have ample time to debrief and discuss ministry, leadership and strategy. There are also opportunities to meet with cohorts of ministry leaders (creative arts, children, youth, etc.) from the other churches attending the conference.

Cal Jernigan – Keynote Speaker
Cal Jernigan was Lead Pastor of Central Christian Church in Arizona for 25 years, concluding in 2025. Cal began in youth ministry at Central in 1987 and was appointed Lead Pastor in 1999. Under his leadership, Central grew significantly, both in size and influence. Today, Central Christian Church is a dynamic, multi-campus ministry that reaches over 10,000 people weekly across five locations. Cal has become a respected voice in church leadership, known for his passionate, relevant and engaging communication of biblical truth.
Beyond the pulpit, Cal is a mentor, visionary and advocate for healthy church culture. He has navigated complex challenges with transparency and integrity, always striving to uphold the values of accountability and compassion. Whether speaking to a congregation, mentoring emerging leaders or addressing broader church issues, Cal Jernigan brings a wealth of experience, a heart for people and a deep love for God’s Word.
Who can attend TeamFest?
Any paid member of your staff may attend. There is a cap of six staff members per church. Additional staff members can be added at your church’s expense (details below).
Where and when will it be held?
Accommodation and conference sessions will be held at the Hilton Hotel, 6 Orchid Avenue, Surfers Paradise, QLD. The Hilton is one block from the famous Surfers Paradise beach.
Participants are expected to arrive at the hotel on Monday 12 October before the conference begins (check-in will be available from 2:00 pm). The conference program will commence at 9:00 am on Tuesday 13 October and conclude after lunch on Thursday 15 October.
What will be the content of the program?
In addition to hearing from Cal Jernigan, participants will enjoy input from significant leaders from our churches around Australia. There will also be opportunities for team reflection and connecting with cohorts in specific ministry roles.
Participants are expected to attend the entire conference, from Tuesday morning until the final session at lunchtime on Thursday. Flight schedules should be arranged accordingly.
How much does it cost?
Registration is $150 per staff member (non-refundable) and is payable to Christian Projects.
- This registration fee contributes towards the cost of the venue, keynote speaker, three nights’ accommodation (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), and breakfast and lunch during the conference.
- Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own evening meals.
- Churches are also responsible for arranging and paying for flights to and from the Gold Coast, as well as airport transfers to and from the hotel.
- Please note there are a limited number of complimentary car parking spaces available at the hotel. Contact Rob Irvin (details below) to reserve a space.
Accommodation and Extra Guests
Accommodation is twin-share (two people per room).
- Participants who prefer a private room will pay a registration fee of $400.
- Churches wishing to bring additional staff members (beyond the six sponsored participants) may do so at a cost of $240 per room, per night, in addition to the $150 registration fee.
What is Christian Projects?
Christian Projects manages a trust fund that funds and facilitates leadership development throughout Churches of Christ in Australia. Its primary initiatives are Leadership 21 and TeamFest, both of which are held every two years.
The Christian Projects directors all have a long history of involvement with churches of Christ.
