Bathurst Church of Christ has been on a hamper donation spree for frontline workers!

More than 22 medical facilities have been blessed with a care package by the church to thank their frontline workers. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with some tears of appreciation.

Pastor Elio Bicanic’s shares:

“The Fresh Hope article on Forster Tuncurry Church of Christ and their generosity to frontline health workers initially got us thinking. I phoned Bret Clarke from Forster Tuncurry, who was very helpful in providing the details of how they assembled and distributed the care packs. So, we decided to make use of and fit their approach to suit the Bathurst situation.

The church raised funds for the packs, and some businesses also donated towards the packs. Each pack is about $100 in value and includes fruit, chocolates, coffee vouchers, and a thank-you card from the Bathurst Church of Christ congregation.

So far, we have distributed 22 packs. Four have gone to various departments at Bathurst Hospital that have cared for COVID patients (ICU, Emergency, COVID Ward, Pathology). Two have gone to the two main COVID-19 testing clinics, seven to medical centres that are giving COVID vaccinations, and one to a Pharmacy providing COVID-19 vaccinations. Another 14 are being delivered this week to a medical centre, pharmacies and other community services that have been involved.

Our motivation is simple: thank you to our frontline health workers for their hard work in helping to keep our community safe during the pandemic. We wanted to show our appreciation and bless our frontline health workers. The packs have been very well received and appreciated by our community.”
