Bushfires are part of the landscape of Australia and again this week we are witnessing a bushfire having a large impact in part of the hills on the Eastern outskirts of Perth WA.
At this stage seventy one houses have been lost, many have been evacuated and areas of Perth are shrouded in smoke. We share a deep concern for those experiencing and fighting these terrible fires and hold in our memory the fires across Australia from one year ago.
We can often feel helpless in the face of such natural disasters. The Mundaring Church of Christ is in the midst of this bushfire area. Members have lost homes and the church, working with others churches, is reaching out to people who have lost homes, been evacuated and experiencing fear and distress.
One way that we share the burden of this response is by giving to this WA Bushfire Appeal. Through your giving you will be sharing the responsibility being taken up by the Mundaring Church of Christ and other agencies responding in this situation.
This is an appeal being launched through Global Mission Partners Extend, an entity that is part of the GMP family that can receive tax-deductible donations for an appeal of this nature.
Donated funds will be distributed through trusted churches and agencies with the capacity to identify, support and meet the needs of those affected by the fires. Through donating, we know that we can make a difference to those most in need.
