Lismore (Northern Rivers) Church Of Christ Thanksgiving Service – October 21st
On Sunday 21st October Ken & Alison Bond joined the Lismore (Northern Rivers) church community to celebrate a service of thanksgiving.
The gathering included 24 adults and 6 children with worship led by Jim Orange, scripture reading by David Barnes, and a segment of history plus prayer of thanksgiving by Ian Phillips.
The service covered a brief summary of the church’s 134 year history, followed by a time of sharing. Marie Giles read a letter of encouragement from former member Naomi Giles and shared her personal reflections, as did Tim Sayer and Les Jardine.
The group shared communion and Ken Bond rounded out the day with a message of encouragement followed by afternoon tea.
Each family present received a bag of seeds symbolising God taking them into the future, sowing into the Kingdom.
We value the importance of history in our movement, especially churches with such an rich story like Lismore Church of Christ.
Next year, we will be launching a series to honour the history of our churches, in which Lismore’s story will be featured.
