The inaugural Pastoral Care Training commenced on the 1st May with 21 participants from 10 different Churches of Christ represented. So far, participants have learned about the ageing process, the spiritual story, core values in spiritual care and the art of listening.

“I just feel so inspired and empowered to become more than just a listener. I want to be a spiritual listener.”

The course is running every Tuesday night throughout May and June at Pathways Community Church, Pendle Hill. At the conclusion of the training, participants will then be buddied-up with a local chaplain at Pendle Hill and introduced to residents that they can begin to visit regularly.

“I’m just so looking forward to our new pastoral carers being available to sit and be present with many of our residents” Janice Stokes, Facility Manager Pendle Hill.

Planning is already underway to roll out this training to other Fresh Hope Care Centres over the coming 18 months. If you would like more information please contact Taksan Scott in the Fresh Hope Resource Centre on (02) 8719 2600.
