At the end of June, Kingsway Community Care – Platform Nine held its official opening. It was a proud day as we came together to not only officially open the doors but also to honour a number of businesses that gave their time and resources to help us ensure that the doors would be re-opened.

The opening had over 60 guests in attendance. Our many partners and a number of special guests joined us, including local member Eleni Petinos (MP for Miranda), The Hon. Mark Speakman (SC, MP Attorney General and member for Cronulla), Cr Peter Scaysbrook (Deputy Mayor of Sutherland Council) and Leesha Payor (Georges River Council). All those who joined us helped to make it a very special day.

Eleni Petinos announced that the State Government is contributing $40,000 to Platform Nine’s Domestic Violence Response enhancement project.

All in all, it was a great day where we honoured not only our many guests but also God, who without his presence, none of this would be at all possible. We are looking forward to what God has planned for Platform Nine and the women and children who will be blessed by the accommodation and support that is offered by our team at this site. And as we move into supported temporary accommodation in the coming months we are excited about also having the opportunity to work with men and couples in partnership with another local ministry.
